What it is
Hareline Mirage Accent is a thin flash strand material with a twisted construction. In the water it bends light and throws a natural glow instead of looking like a thick tinsel strip, so you can add flash without building bulk.
What to tie with it
Use it for sparse flash accents in streamer wings and tails, or stack more of it for full wings when you want a louder profile. It also works as full wings on dry flies, spinners, and terrestrials, and it’s a standard kind of flash you can weave into Gotcha-style bonefish patterns.
Flies and the fish they're for
The Gotcha is a classic flats fly for bonefish, fished on shallow sand and turtlegrass where that little bit of glow helps it show up without looking heavy. Mirage Accent also shows up in trout flies like the Black Mirage Zebra Midge as a nymph or dropper on rivers and tailwaters, and in the Mirage Nymph as a beadhead attention-getter for trout in moving water.
How it compares
Compared to Krystal Flash, Krystal Flash is offered in a wider color range. Compared to Mirage Opal Accent, Mirage Accent is the more “natural glow” look, while Mirage Opal Accent leans into an opal glow appearance.
