What it is
Hareline Nymph Blend is a synthetic dubbing blend made from synthetic fibres. It dubs with a slightly matted, mottled look and has a hint of translucency, which helps it read as buggy and natural underwater.
What to tie with it
Use it for subsurface bodies, especially wet flies, emergers, and nymphs. It’s a good choice when you want a mottled abdomen or thorax and you’re dubbing tight to the thread or building a slightly rougher, buggy noodle by hand.
Flies and the fish they're for
This is a natural fit on classic trout nymphs like the Pheasant Tail Nymph and Hare’s Ear Nymph, which are staple flies for trout in rivers and tailwaters. It also shows up in trout streamers like the Woolly Bugger, fished for trout and often picked up by smallmouth in moving water. If you swing or dead-drift wet flies and emerger patterns, this kind of dubbing gives those bodies a buggy silhouette that works well for trout feeding just under the surface film.
How it compares
Compared with Whitlock’s SLF Dubbing, Nymph Blend has more translucency and a slightly more matted look. SLF tends to look less matted by comparison.
