What it is

Hareline Para Post Wing is a synthetic winging material made from many fine synthetic fibers bundled for easy posting. It’s water-repellent and comes pretreated with floatant, so it rides high and stays visible as a post.

What to tie with it

Use it to build parachute posts the traditional way, then wrap your hackle around it for parachute dries. It also works well for down wings, split wings, emerger and spinner wings, and as a small hotspot on top of a dry when you want an easy-to-track fly.

Flies and the fish they're for

This is a natural fit for parachute-style dries like a Parachute Adams, which is fished for rising trout in rivers and spring creeks and also on stillwaters when fish are taking mayflies. It also shows up on Isonychia-style parachute mayflies, another trout pattern for riffles and runs when those larger mayflies are active. Any spinner or emerger tied with a parachute post like this is typically aimed at selective trout feeding in the surface film during hatches.

How it compares

It’s in the same lane as Polypropylene Yarn and other synthetic post fibers, but it isn’t Water Shed treated. Even so, it’s still water-repellent and floats well.
