What it is
Hareline Pearl Core Braid is a pearl braided material with a dyed core that shows through to give it a two-tone look. In the water it reads deeper than a single-finish braid, with a flash that holds up and a durable weave that’s easy to control at the vise. Because it’s rounder, it builds a beefier, more defined body when you wrap it.
What to tie with it
Use it for wrapped hook-shank bodies when you want a round profile fast, or for extended bodies where the braid’s structure helps keep shape. It’s right at home on streamer bodies, and it’s a natural fit for caddis larvae, worm patterns, and dragonfly and damselfly nymph bodies. You can also wrap it as a rib over other materials to add a little flash and depth without changing the whole fly.
Flies and the fish they're for
The San Juan Worm is a direct match for Pearl Core Braid, tied to imitate worms and other soft food that trout and panfish key on in rivers and tailwaters, especially when flows are up or banks get washed. Pearl-braid worm variants are also commonly fished for stocked trout in ponds and for carp when you want a simple, durable worm profile that still has some visual pop.
