What it is

Hareline Pearlescent Sheets are pearlescent, semi-translucent synthetic mylar sheets you cut into strips or shapes at the bench. On the hook they add a flashy, see-through sheen without turning bulky, and the material holds up well. It’s easy to cut cleanly for consistent backs and body wraps.

What to tie with it

Use it wound as a body or rib on nymphs and streamers, or cut it for nymph wingcases and flashbacks. It’s a go-to for scud and sowbug backs where you want that slick, shell-like look and some durability. You can also cut it into simple dry-fly wings when you want a crisp, synthetic wing that won’t soak up water.

Flies and the fish they're for

In Magic Shrimp-style patterns, this makes an excellent shell back, which is right in the lane for redfish and seatrout on shallow saltwater flats where shrimp are a key food. As a scud or sowbug back and as nymph flashbacks and wingcases, it fits trout fishing in rivers and tailwaters where bright-backed nymphs and buggy crustacean imitations consistently produce.

How it compares

Compared with Hedron Mirage Opal Sheet, it’s a similar flashy synthetic sheet, but this one reads more pearlescent while Mirage Opal leans more opal in its effect.
