This cutter is made for the STP Frog pattern, a topwater fly that’s commonly fished for trout, bass, and panfish when fish are looking up in warm-season conditions. On bass water it’s a surface bug for largemouth and smallmouth around bank cover, pads, and shallow flats, and on panfish ponds it’s a fun topwater option for bluegill and other sunfish. Trout will also eat a frog profile in the right places, especially in summertime when they’re willing to move for a surface meal.
