What it is
Senyo’s Laser Dub is a long-strand synthetic dubbing made from an Ice Dub blend with 0.5–1 acrylic fibers mixed in. It’s soft and flashy in the water, and those longer fibers let you build volume quickly without losing movement. On the hook it can dub down into fine bodies or be pushed into dense, veiled heads.
What to tie with it
Use it for dubbed bodies on nymphs, dries, and emergers when you want a little flash without a stiff, spiky look. For streamers and steelhead-style patterns, you can spin or stack it into collars, wings, and full streamer bodies, then tease it to shape. It also shines when you want a dense, veiled streamer head that still has translucence and motion.
Flies and the fish they're for
In a Hare’s Ear Nymph, Laser Dub works as a dubbed body for trout in rivers and tailwaters when you want a buggy profile with added flash. For the Muddler Minnow, it fits right into that sculpin-and-minnow streamer niche for trout and often smallmouth in moving water. Modern baitfish patterns like the Game Changer and Low Fat Minnow use it in streamer bodies and veiled heads for predatory fish like trout and bass in freshwater, and it also shows up in saltwater-baitfish style flies where you’re targeting species that key on flashy forage.
How it compares
Against sculpin wool, it’s a similar length and will build similar volume, but Laser Dub can be dubbed into finer bodies. Compared to straight Ice Dub, it has a similar dubbing profile and is flashier, but it’s the longer fibers that give you the ability to form longer winging effects and dense, veiled heads that Ice Dub doesn’t do the same way.
