What it is

Senyo’s Micro Trout Shank is a micro articulated trout shank made from thin wire. It’s a downsized shank with an upturned eye that’s built to pair with a size 10 hook, keeping the whole rig compact while still giving you articulation.

What to tie with it

Use it as the front or rear section of small articulated wet flies and streamers, or as a platform for low-water patterns where you want a slimmer profile. You can link two or more shanks together for multi-jointed flies, or use it to control rear hook placement while you build the rest of the fly on the shank. It’s also a clean way to scale spey-style swung patterns down into trout-and-panfish sizing.

Flies and the fish they're for

This shank is made for small articulated wet flies and sparse streamers that you can fish for trout in smaller streams and rivers, especially when flows are low and fish want something less bulky. It also fits the low-water end of swung presentations for steelhead and can be sized into small salmon-style patterns when you want articulation without a big intruder-style footprint. Because it will link with additional shanks, it crosses over into small, intricate intruder-style builds that trout and panfish will still eat when you swing or strip them.

How it compares

Compared to Senyo’s Articulated Shanks, this is the smaller-size version for tying the same articulated concepts in a more compact package. Compared to Spawn Articulated Shanks, it has an upturned eye.
