What it is

Hareline Slotted Tungsten Beads are slotted, faceted tungsten beads meant to sit correctly on jig hooks. Tungsten makes them heavy and fast-sinking, and the faceted exterior throws light like a little attractor head once it’s on the hook.

What to tie with it

Use them as a bead head to add weight and help a jig-style fly ride hook point up, especially on tight-line and Euro-style nymph rigs. They fit naturally into eggs, nymphs, streamers, and general attractor patterns where you want quick sink and a bit of flash, and they’re built specifically to clear the bend and angle of jig hooks.

Flies and the fish they're for

Tie them into a Jigged Wolly Bugger when you want a point-up, fast-dropping bugger for trout in rivers and for smallmouth in moving water. They’re also right at home on a Mop Fly, a common weight-forward nymph/attractor that gets fished for trout in tailwaters and freestones, especially when you need to get down quickly and stay in the zone. In both cases, the bead is doing the work of getting the fly deep while keeping the hook riding cleanly.

How it compares

They’re similar to Hareline Faceted Slotted Tungsten Beads in that both are slotted, faceted tungsten beads and come in the same general size and color options.
