What it is
Hareline Solid Tinsel Chenille is a solid-core chenille built from rayon fibers blended with Krystal tinsel. It’s thin in diameter with short fibers, so it wraps into a uniform, flashy body without getting overly shaggy. On the hook it’s durable and easy to control, and it builds consistent shapes as you wrap.
What to tie with it
Use it for flashy bodies on streamers, shrimp patterns, leeches, bass bugs, and saltwater forage patterns, and it’s also a clean option for large nymphs and large terrestrials. You can wrap it as a straight body, palmer it up the shank for a segmented “buggier” profile that still stays tidy, or use it as an underbody to add flash and bulk under other materials. It’s a common pick for attractor-style patterns where you want shine without losing a smooth silhouette.

In a Woolly Bugger, it makes a bright, durable body for trout in rivers and stillwaters, and it crosses over well to bass in lakes and streams when you’re fishing baitfish and leech looks. In a Crystal Bugger, the added tinsel flash leans into that same role as an attractor streamer for trout and bass, especially in off-color water or low light. On a Gurgler, it supports flashy topwater baitfish and bug profiles that get eaten by largemouth and smallmouth in freshwater and also by inshore saltwater fish like redfish when they’re looking up.
How it compares
Compared to Estaz, Solid Tinsel Chenille is more uniform, thinner in diameter, and has shorter fibers, so it looks less buggy and wraps into cleaner, more consistent bodies. Estaz runs thicker with longer fibers for a fuller, shaggier profile when you want maximum bulk.
