Hareline Steelhead Ice Dub Dispenser

What it is

Steelhead Ice Dub in the dispenser is a flash dubbing assortment: fine fibers mixed with shredded mylar, packaged so you can pull out just what you need. In the water it gives a bright, sparkly look, and at the vise it’s a fine-textured dubbing that grabs thread easily.

What to tie with it

Use it anywhere you’d normally dub: nymph bodies and thoraxes, streamer bodies, and small hot spots. It works well spun in a dubbing loop for extra movement, and it also blends cleanly with other dubbings when you want flash without changing the whole profile. The dispenser format is handy at the bench because it keeps multiple blends together and easy to access.

Ice-dub style attractor patterns are a common steelhead tool, especially when you want a fly that shows up in faster runs or slightly colored water. They’re often fished on a nymph rig alongside an egg pattern or another nymph when you’re targeting steelhead in rivers.

Compared to Hareline Ripple Ice Dub, this is finer and shorter-fiber; Ripple Ice Dub runs a little coarser and longer. That makes Ripple a better pick when you’re building bulkier dubbing loops or tying larger flies.
