Hareline Stonfo Elite Conical Half Hitch Set

What it is

The Hareline Stonfo Elite Conical Half Hitch Set is a conical half-hitch tool set built around a machined stainless steel handle with a knurled grip. It uses interchangeable cones held snug with rubber O-rings, so the fit stays precise and the tool feels stable in hand. It’s made to be durable at the bench and easy to control when you’re working close to the hook.

What to tie with it

You use it to tie half hitch knots to lock down thread, floss, tinsel, or wire without reaching for a full whip finish every time. The interchangeable cone sizes let you seat knots cleanly on different hook sizes, which is especially helpful when you’re tying small patterns where finger hitches are fussy. It’s a go-to move for quick tie-offs at steps like finishing a body segment, securing a hackle, or building a neat head.

Flies and the fish they're for

On small hooks, this tool shines for emergers where you want controlled, repeatable thread control and tidy finishes for trout in rivers and tailwaters. It’s also handy on small wet flies when you’re locking materials down in tight spaces for trout and panfish in streams and stillwaters. For parachute dry flies, it helps you cinch thread down around the post and finish cleanly for trout rising in creeks and spring-fed rivers.
