What it is
Hareline Supreme Super Hair is a synthetic tying hair used anywhere you want a clean, consistent bundle that won’t foul easily. It has a slightly larger diameter and is a bit stiffer than Unique Hair, so it supports longer profiles and adds some built-in reinforcement to softer materials. On the hook it behaves like crisp, straight fiber that helps keep tails and longer winging from wrapping around the bend.
What to tie with it
Use it as a primary winging material for baitfish and Surf Candy-style flies, especially when you’re stacking and tapering sparse bundles. It also shines as a reinforcement under or alongside long, soft hair to help keep the fly tracking straight and to prevent tail wrapping and fouling. You can blend it into bodies where a smooth synthetic body is desired.
Flies and the fish they're for
Surf Candy is the classic use: a durable baitfish imitation for saltwater species like false albacore, bonito, striped bass, bluefish, and also for inshore fish like redfish and speckled trout, plus freshwater predators like smallmouth when they’re keyed on minnows. It’s also used in Super Hair Shrimp patterns for shrimp-eating flats and inshore fish like bonefish, redfish, and permit. As a body material it shows up in Pat Dorsey’s Craven’s Jujubee Midge and Jujubaetis nymphs, which are tied for picky trout in tailwaters and spring-creek style water where slim, durable profiles matter.
How it compares
Compared to Unique Hair, Supreme Super Hair runs slightly larger in diameter and is a touch stiffer, which helps when you need a longer profile with more support and less fouling.
