Hareline Synthetic Quill Body Wrap
$5.00 USD
Color: Adams Gray #1
What it is
Hareline Synthetic Quill Body Wrap is a synthetic quill body wrap made from synthetic quills. It lays flat and gives you a naturally segmented, cleanly segmented look with a slim body profile for an ultra-realistic body.
What to tie with it
Use it to wrap segmented bodies on dry flies, Euro nymphs, spinners, nymphs, and emergers. Most tyers build a smooth thread underbody, then wrap the quill forward in tight, touching turns to keep the profile slim and the segmentation even.
Flies and the fish they're for
This material is a body wrap for the same kinds of flies you fish when you want a thin, segmented mayfly look: dries, spinners, emergers, and slim nymphs. Those patterns are staples for trout on rivers and spring creeks, and they translate just as well to tailwaters where fish get picky about profile and segmentation.
How it compares
Compared to using a stripped Peacock Herl fiber for quill bodies, this avoids the DIY stripping step, gives you more options, and holds up better on the hook. Peacock herl quills can look great but tend to be less durable.
