What it is
Hareline Tungsten Beads are countersunk tungsten beads for fly tying. Tungsten’s density gives you fast-sinking weight in a small package, and the countersunk hole helps the bead seat cleanly against the hook eye. They’re also used when you want a bright bead up front as part of the fly’s look.
What to tie with it
Use them as nymph heads, streamer heads, and for “hot head” or thorax hotspot setups where the bead becomes both weight and trigger. They fit naturally into bead-head construction on jig hooks or standard nymph hooks, and they’re right at home on leech and crustacean patterns where you want the fly to drop quickly.
Flies and the fish they're for
Euro nymphs commonly use tungsten beads to get down fast and stay in the strike zone, especially in faster runs and deeper slots. Fished tight-line, those bead-headed Euro nymphs are staple flies for trout in rivers and tailwaters, and they also see plenty of use for grayling in similar moving-water situations.
How it compares
Compared with regular tungsten beads, the key function is the same: tungsten for fast sinking. Compared with Hareline Dazzle Brass Beads, you can get a similar bright-bead look, but brass sinks slower than tungsten.
