What it is
Hareline Two Tone Rabbit Strips are rabbit fur strips cut for tying, with the hide on the back and fur flowing off the sides. They’re double-dyed for UV fluorescent and UV reflective pop, with a two-tone barred look that reads high-visibility in murky water. In the water the fur breathes and swims with very little input, and the hide holds up well to teeth.
What to tie with it
Use it as a strip body or a wrapped body on streamers, or tie it in as a tail to add bulk and motion without stiff fibers. It’s also right at home as a zonker-style wing or back strip on baitfish and leech shapes, and as the main moving element in predator patterns.
Flies and the fish they're for
These strips are a natural fit for zonker and rabbit-strip leech style patterns that get fished for trout in rivers and stillwaters when you want a lot of movement at slow speeds. Rabbit-strip streamer builds like this also cross over to bass water, where the same swimming action is a staple for largemouth and smallmouth on lakes and rivers. In salt, rabbit-strip baitfish and eel-like profiles are commonly fished for inshore predators like redfish and striped bass, especially when a larger, high-visibility silhouette helps in off-color water.
