What it is
UNI Caenis is a fly tying thread built for very small work, with an ultra-thin diameter that lets you keep proportions under control. It lays down smooth, so you can build a clean underbody without the corded look you can get from heavier thread.
What to tie with it
Use it anywhere you need tight wraps without bulk: starting the thread on small hooks, tying in tailing fibers, and building slim bodies and tiny heads. It’s a natural fit for midge patterns, tricos, small mayflies like tiny BWOs, and tiny ants, and it also works for laying a smooth foundation under full-dress salmon flies.

On Trico patterns, this thread helps you keep the body skinny for picky trout sipping in flat water and slow runs during trico spinner and dun periods. On small BWO patterns, it’s the same advantage for trout feeding in rivers and tailwaters when the bugs are small and the water is clear.
