What it is

Hareline Uni Neon Floss is a fly tying floss made from a 600-denier single-strand material. It’s easy to handle at the vise, lays flat when you want a smooth wrap, and finishes with a clean, smooth look on the hook.

What to tie with it

Use it as a body material by wrapping it flat for an even, glossy body on everything from dries to wets and soft hackles. It also works well for tails and tags, and it’s a quick way to add a small hot spot on Euro nymphs without building bulk.

Flies and the fish they're for

It shows up in classic and everyday patterns like the Royal Wulff and the Stimulator, which are both commonly fished for trout on rivers and freestones where a high-floating dry is useful. In soft-hackle fishing, Partridge and Orange is a staple for trout and sometimes grayling, swung or drifted in riffles and runs. For the anadromous side, it fits right into traditional salmon patterns like the Jock Scott, and the same floss-body approach carries over to steelhead flies where a smooth, durable body and bright tag are part of the look.

How it compares

Compared with UNI Floss, it’s the same 600-denier single-strand format and handles the same way, but it’s offered in a different color scheme.
