What it is

Hareline UV2 Fusion Blood Drop Egg Beads are hollow plastic egg beads with a UV2 double-dyed finish. They have UV fluorescence and UV reflectance, and a small red dot marking that reads like an embryo or blood spot. Being a bead, it keeps a consistent round profile and gives you a clean, realistic egg look without having to sculpt yarn or foam.

What to tie with it

You can fish them as a pegged egg by slipping the bead onto your leader and fixing it in place on the tippet, or you can build them into a fly by tying/mounting the bead on the hook. They also work as an “egg in the mouth” accent on streamers by melting them onto the hook or using them as a small streamer-head egg, and they pair well with veiling yarn for that soft halo around the bead.

Flies and the fish they're for

Egg Sucking Leech is the obvious crossover pattern here: the bead becomes the egg at the head, and the rest of the fly is the leech profile. It’s a staple for trout in rivers and tailwaters during spawning windows, and it also sees plenty of use for steelhead in Great Lakes tributaries and Pacific Northwest-style swung or stripped presentations. The bead makes the egg portion consistent and visible, while the leech body gives fish a bigger meal behind it.

How it compares

Compared to Spirit River UV2 Fusion Egg Beads, these are made from the same material but add the red dot marking. Against Ds Flyes Super Eggs (also plastic egg beads), these are geared toward more natural-looking blends and a more realistic finish. Versus Glo-Bug Yarn or Mcflyfoam eggs, the difference is simple: the bead is a fixed round profile you mount or peg, while yarn and foam are sculpted egg materials you form on the hook.
