Hareline UV2 Fusion Egg Beads

What it is

Hareline UV2 Fusion Egg Beads are hollow plastic egg beads with a UV2 double-dyed finish. They’re built to throw both UV fluorescence and UV reflectance, giving them a realistic egg look when they’re fished in the water. The hollow construction also makes them easy to rig and lets you control how they sit on the leader or hook.

What to tie with it

Use them for egg imitations by slipping them onto the leader or affixing them to the tippet, or by tying them directly into a fly. At the vise, you can melt them onto a hook for a fixed egg point, pair them with veiling yarn for a little extra “egg mass” and veil, or use one as a small head accent on a streamer.

Flies and the fish they're for

Egg Sucking Leech is a classic place for these beads, with the bead acting as the egg at the front of the fly. Fish it for steelhead and salmon in Great Lakes tributaries and Pacific Northwest rivers, and it also sees plenty of use for trout anywhere they’re keyed on drifting eggs behind spawners.

How it compares

Compared to Spirit River UV2 Fusion Egg Beads, these are the same style of bead but without the red dot. Compared to Ds Flyes Super Eggs, these are still plastic egg beads but are made to look more realistic; if you want a sculpted-yarn style egg instead of a bead, Glo-Bug Yarn and Mcflyfoam are the better fit.
