What it is
Hareline UV2 Large Eyed Guinea is a large-eyed guinea feather treated with a UV2 double-dye process that hits UVF and UVR wavelengths. The fibers are webby with a bit of stiffness, so they hold shape and move in the water without collapsing. On the finished fly it adds UV fluorescence and UV reflectance without changing how you handle it at the vise.
What to tie with it
Use it as a wrapped collar on streamers, wet flies, and steelhead/salmon patterns where you want soft, breathing motion but still need the fibers to stand out a touch. You can also pick fibers for nymph and wet-fly legs and tails, especially when you want a slightly buggier, webby profile. The feather’s large eye markings also make it useful for burned eyes on classic streamer-style patterns.
Flies and the fish they're for
In a Tellico Nymph, the fibers work well for legs and tail, a combo that’s fished for trout in freestone rivers and pocketwater. In a Sculpzilla, it fits the collar role on a sculpin-style streamer for big trout and smallmouth in rivers and tailwaters. On Intruder-style flies, it’s right at home as part of the collar profile for steelhead and salmon in coastal rivers and Pacific Northwest-style runs.

It has a similar look to teal flank feathers, and both materials are webby, but this guinea is built around the large-eyed markings and the UV2 dye process for added UV fluorescence and reflectance.
