What it is
Hareline UV2 Rabbit Strips are rabbit fur strips with a two-tone barred look, made with a double-dye process and finished with UV2 treatment. The UV2 adds both UV fluorescence and UV reflectivity, while the rabbit fur stays soft and durable. In the water the fur breathes and pulses, giving a lifelike movement even at slow speeds.
What to tie with it
Use these strips for streamer bodies by wrapping the hide up the shank as a zonker-style body, or by palmering it for a wide, swimming profile. They also work well as long tails on leeches and other predatory patterns, where you want the strip to move and keep its shape after fish teeth and repeated casting.
Flies and the fish they're for
These are the classic material for zonker-style streamers and rabbit leeches, the kind of flies trout and big browns eat in rivers and tailwaters when you’re swinging or stripping a bigger meal. They also fit right into pike and musky-style rabbit strip streamers in weedy lakes and slow rivers, where that soft, waving tail helps the fly track and stay visible. In saltwater, rabbit-strip baitfish and eel-style patterns are commonly tied and fished for striped bass and other inshore predators around current seams and structure.
