Hareline White Finnish Raccoon Fur Piece

What it is
A Finnish raccoon fur piece is a patch of raccoon fur with long, soft hair. On the hook it breathes and undulates with very little current or strip, and it holds up well to teeth and repeated casting. It’s also simple to cut to the size you need and trim to shape at the bench.
What to tie with it
Use it anywhere you want mobile hair in the water: as a streamer wing or collar, or as a pulsing shoulder on baitfish patterns. You can also tie it in as a nymph thorax or buggy body accent where you want legs and movement; it stacks, trims, and blends well when you’re building a profile. Common techniques are tying it in as a strip/patch section for wings, wrapping a collar, and trimming to a head or baitfish shape.
Flies and the fish they're for
This material is at home in baitfish-style streamers and bulky nymphs, so think trout and smallmouth in rivers when you’re swinging or stripping patterns for reaction strikes, and also stillwater trout when you want a fly that moves on a slow retrieve. In saltwater it translates to the same job in smaller baitfish profiles for species like redfish and stripers, where a soft, breathing wing helps the fly look alive on short strips and pauses.
