What it is

Hareline Wire Free Synthetic Fox Brushes are a synthetic fox dubbing brush built on a thread core instead of wire. The fibers stay lightweight, shed water quickly, and move with a natural fur-like pulse in the water. Even without wire, it still pushes water, which helps a fly look full without becoming a sponge.

What to tie with it

Use it by palmering the brush to build dense streamer bodies fast, then trim to shape for a tapered profile. It also shines as a collar or as a bulky head where you want volume and movement without adding much weight. The thread core keeps the fly easy to cast compared to heavier, wire-cored brushes.

Flies and the fish they're for

This brush is built for modern baitfish and leech-style streamers where the body, collar, and head are all about motion and water push. Tied into big-profile streamers, it’s a natural fit for trout in rivers and stillwaters, and for smallmouth in rivers and lakes where a full-bodied baitfish profile matters. In saltwater-style baitfish shapes it also matches up well with species like redfish and striped bass, since it stays light and sheds water quickly for repeated casting.

How it compares

Compared with Enrico Puglisi Foxy Brushes, the big difference is the wire-free thread core, which keeps the fly lighter. It covers similar ground to blending natural Arctic fox with EP Fibers, but does it in one brush, and without the extra weight a wire core adds.
