What it is
Hareline Zap A Gap Single Use Mini Tubes are single-use tubes of cyanoacrylate super glue for fly tying. It’s a medium-viscosity adhesive that bonds fast and hard without needing a curing light, and it dries without adding weight to the fly. At the bench it’s the kind of glue you reach for when you want an ultra-strong bond right now.
What to tie with it
Use it to bond fly-tying materials to the hook shank and to lock thread wraps so things don’t spin or pull out. It’s a go-to for attaching bead chain eyes cleanly and then securing them with thread and a final drop to keep them from shifting. The medium viscosity helps it stay where you put it instead of immediately wicking away like very thin super glues.
Flies and the fish they're for
Any fly that uses bead chain eyes is a natural fit, because this glue is commonly used to set the eyes before you lash and finish them. That includes a lot of shallow-water saltwater patterns for redfish and bonefish, and plenty of freshwater streamers for largemouth and smallmouth bass where bead chain eyes help a fly ride hook point up. It’s also handy on trout nymphs and small streamers anywhere you want to lock down a rib, a wingcase, or the final thread wraps so a fly survives more fish.
How it compares
Compared with Loctite Ultra Gel Control Super Glue and Loctite Ultra Gel, Zap A Gap is higher viscosity. The Loctite gels also aren’t packaged as single-use tubes.
