Midge Element

The Midge (Element) is a minimalist, high-performance dry fly designed to imitate adult midges, a key food source for trout in cold, clear waters. With a slim black body and delicate proportions, it closely mimics the natural size and profile of emerging or spent midges. This pattern is perfect for targeting rising trout during midge hatches, especially in slow-moving or still water.

Its sparse design ensures a natural drift and soft landing on the water’s surface, making it ideal for wary fish in pressured environments like spring creeks and tailwaters. Best used in winter, early spring, or late fall, the Midge Black B’s is a go-to dry fly when subtlety, accuracy, and realism matter most.
