The Pale Morning Dun Parachute is a highly effective dry fly designed to imitate adult PMDs during a hatch. Featuring a pale yellow-olive body, upright parachute post, and horizontal hackle, it rides low in the water, mimicking a natural dun perfectly.
Its improved visibility and realistic profile make it ideal for technical waters and selective trout. Best used during late spring to early fall PMD hatches on rivers and spring creeks
Know the terms
- Pale morning dunA “Pale Morning Dun” (PMD) is a common mayfly hatch made up of small, pale yellow mayflies. Anglers use PMD nymph, emerger, dun, and spinner patterns to match it.
- ParachuteA parachute is a dry-fly style with the hackle wrapped horizontally around a post, so the fly rides low and stays visible.
