WHEN TO GO / SEASONALITY
Silver Bow Club is open from May through October.
The ranch operates May 1 through November 1, and fishing on the Big Hole River is active from May through mid‑October. Pheasant hunting season begins September 1, and fall fly fishing in September and October is highlighted as excellent for cooler water and combined cast‑and‑blast trips. Trout feed from March through September, with key hatches like caddis from about May 10–July 25, salmonflies and Golden Stones in June, and late summer bugs like spruce moths and tricos from August into September.
Early Season: Late spring is an incredible time to visit Montana. After the long winter, water temperatures begin to rise, triggering trout to feed aggressively. Across the Big Hole and nearby rivers, rainbow, brown, and cutthroat trout gorge in anticipation of summer, making early-season wade and float fishing both productive and exciting.
Middle Season: June through August marks peak season and some of the best dry fly fishing of the year. As runoff drops in early June, prolific hatches appear, offering thrilling dry fly opportunities. Streamer fishing also reaches peak intensity, while terrestrials become increasingly active in late July and early August, adding variety and excitement to every day on the water.
Late Season: Late season brings some of the most rewarding streamer fishing of the year. Brown trout prepare to spawn and become highly aggressive, chasing stripped or swung flies with remarkable eagerness. The rivers are quieter, giving anglers the chance for intimate, trophy-focused fishing experiences.
NON-ANGLING ACTIVITIES

The lodge also features a modified trap shooting range, perfect for groups looking for a fun and social activity. For a true “cast and blast” experience, enjoy morning pheasant hunting across the ranch’s pastures. Guests seeking relaxation can indulge in a massage at the lodge while soaking in the sweeping valley views.
