What it is
The Dr Slick Ceramic Bobbin is a fly tying bobbin built from stainless steel with a brass finish, using ceramic tube inserts and Delrin feet. It feeds thread smoothly with low friction, which minimizes thread wear and helps reduce thread breakage. The tension is fine-tunable, and the construction is made to hold up at the bench.
What to tie with it
Use it anytime you need clean thread control on the hook, from starting a thread base to building bodies, ribbing, and finishing heads. The adjustable tension lets you snug down for flaring hair, cinching materials, and packing dubbed bodies, or back off when you’re working with finer thread and don’t want it to fray. It’s also a nice tool for consistent wraps when you’re spinning the bobbin to twist thread or cord up dubbing loops without the tube chewing up your thread.
